Promises and Repairs

1 Dec 2003

My Kawasaki would not start after my ride from Kuantan.. starter motor would not crank and the relay sounds funny.  And whole thing sounds like I am going to dig into my pocket to get it up and running again.

So, I made a call on my usual kawa-dealer-cum-workshop at Wangsa Maju.  Mr Boss assured me that is would be a small problem and he reckoned that the problem probably lies in the starter motor's carbon contact-bushing. I was happy when  he offered me a 20% discount on the whatever parts to be replaced.

Ever helpful Ben helped me to jumpstart the bike before we shoot off to the shop the next day. He needed to fine-tune his bike's handle-bar's position.

Got the motor's carbon bushing replaced. All fixed up and was happy at that point saved for some souvenior scratches (again) on the bike's mini fairing courtesy of Mr Mechanic

Bill came without the 20% discount on spare-parts as offered and promised. Mr Boss did'nt recall that he made the offer the prior day.  I paid up to Mrs Boss  without kicking any big fuss in the office.

Biker Bros out there... BEWARE of promises made and make sure you get the deal as promised before they touch yer bike. Forget about 'cum-cheng' or loyalty

By the way, I don't think I want to go back to the shop ever. He may make 20% more on those spares but he is losing me as a paying customer.

Ride safe
