Titi Kong Sunday Ride
15 August 2010 |
|
It's fasting month again and everyone is soft on taking the bike out. well, it was a chance to take it easy especially only Bin joined the Sunday breakfast run. The temperature was fantastically cool as it rained (again) the night before. I did not realise it rained as I was soundly asleep till the alarm clock shocked me up abruptly.
I waited to exactly 815 am before hitting the road with Bin. My Zed was protesting with every turns I tried to make. To make matter worse, the road was still looking a bit wet with patches of water still awaiting the sun to zap them back to the air. My confidence levels naturally dropped to all time low. We quickly passed through Ulu Langat's very idyllic town at 9th mile towards Semenyih Dam. As we passed out of Pekan Ulu Langat Batu 9, the boring road transformed to a twisty single carriageway that would make any weekend motorcyclist grinning in his helmet. Thankfully, the road looked a lot dryer. It was a total relaxation to ride through the short twisty road. The cool misty air helped.
We detoured to Semenyih Dam for a brief photo shoot and to enjoy the scenery. For once, I regretted for not taking along my SLR. It was so stunningly beautiful. To make matter worse, my compact showed battery level was near the end and perhaps only enough battery juice to last a few shots. I could not afford to be trigger happy.
One of the best feature of the road from Ulu Langat to Kuala Klawang is that the road isn't travelled much by cars and we could practically have the road to ourselves. In short, the motorcyclists rule the turns. Officially, the road is probably rated at 40km/h and I could take on the curves at 70km/h comfortably. There are bikers taking on the road at over 120 km/h and they would finish off the ride laughing out loud at the Jeram Gading turn-off junction.
we headed to Kampung Titi (or famously known as Titi-Kong among the locals) for breakfast. I like one particular family run eatery that make excellent home-made wan tan noodles. There are a lot more choices now as I noticed a fair more eateries opened for business. Bin was surprisingly low on appetite given he did not finish his noodles.
Typically, we could continue our ride to Kuala Klawang and to Lenggeng before turning towards Broga. We would then exit off at Semenyih town. However, we decided to take the same route back to Ulu Langat. The road had dried up completely and we could afford to ride at faster pace.. but still no where near the weekend leather-clad motorcycle top-guns ' pace I later noticed that my front tire had worn off and the un-evenly wear rubber (read worn-out center) was totally difficult to muster around the tight twisty road. Time to dough out $$ for a new sets of rubber.
