Genting Sunday Ride

10 Jan 2010

By 830am, we were ready to hit the road.  Chin Bin joined the Bagsters for the 1st time. The ever popular Sunday ride backroad to Genting Highlands curled through Ulu Yam, the unofficial capital for Loh-mee. Closing into Gohtong Jaya, the air temperature dipped into low 20s signalling we were nearing the still most popular hill in Malaysia.  Uncle Lim (founder of Genting Highlands) would be very proud judging by the full house bookings every weekend despite boasting the 3rd largest single hotel in the world with 6,118 rooms.  Anyway, in low land Kuala Lumpur, we have to yield to the reality of riding in boiling hot tropical weather and made even worse when we wear thick protective clothings.

Richard could now zip through the bends with a lot more poise and confidence. As usual Sam was nowhere to be seen. We arrived at CBTL with just lone black Kawasaki parked at the edge of the open cafe area. Ari, a Finnish, was sitting the cafe enjoying his breakfast. We were early at the joint as usual as the place would be jammed packed with motorcyclists by 1030am

One of the main reason the cafe was very popular with fellow bikers was the fact that they could park the bikes next to their tables .. well if they arrive early enough to grab the parking spots.

A bunch of Korean tourists especially the gals brighten up the place momentary with their giggles ..

Speaking of gals, there aren't many ladies picking up the leisure sport. However, there were one lady biker on a Kawa ER6n amongst the 40 odd motorcyclists showed up at CBTL. Motorcycling is not a necessary a dangerous hobby. Additive, definetely and probably expensive as we are never satisfied with what we ride. But the time spent on the saddle is well worth the sacrifices .. ie digging into children education funds for that 'bike' or returning late from a ride only the face wrath of our home ministers. .. ahem .. still no regrets ..

see ya
