Genting Sunday Ride
10 Jan 2010 |
|
The weather been relentless in making bikers' Sunday 'wet' dreams figuratively a reality. Never less, a fair few turned up for the quick breakfast run to Genting cum attending Oonta's eldest daughter wedding in the afternoon. Surprise show-up was Rashid as I have not seen him for a while. Tan Chee Leong rode into our rendezvous point on his newly acquired bike, a Kawasaki Z1000. Daniel got his old faithful sprayed with a fresh paint..
With all arrived pretty much on time, the engines were liberated with the start buttons thumbed. As usual, we took to the Ulu Yam backroad to Genting. A good day riding through Ulu Yam's backroads beat anything we had throughout the whole week. Perhaps it was still World Cup with hardcores staying up till 4am to catch the last game of the day, the morning traffic was light. Fantastic..
The morning air was gorgeous at Genting. Dry and cool with intermittent flashes of fogs made riding up to the hill like riding around the Alps.. Only a handful of bikers arrived earlier than us. Tables at the cafe were still empty. I did myself a favour and ordered my favourite breakfast set with tea. While munching away my breakfast, the distinctive V-twins' loud pipes roared into the scene. Chin arrived with his Harley gang. As much as I could appreciate the heavy steering Harleys.. I still deemed the road to Genting was a tad unsuitable for the bikes'. Then again, a bike is a bike.. plus the cheapest Harley in the group was still way more than my econo-bike Z750s. And Harley riders needed audience to complete the riding experience. Genting Highlands provided that .
The weather turned sour again with rain crashing down heavily just before we were about to leave the hill resort to attend a wedding. I was surprise to see all bikers, including the sportbikers, took to the slippery road with respect. In a way, it was good. No one wanted to screw up his good Sunday morning with a crash. We all arrived at Oonta's daughter's wedding reception safely. Daddy was too busy attending to his guests .. and we helped ourselves to the food and drinks before breaking off to our respective homes. Any permanent datukship to be bestowed to Pak Oonta soon? Let's hope so and our sincere congratulations to the newly wed couple.
