Long winding road to Gap to kick start 2010

5 GS and 1 R1 .. kinda mismatched but that did not stop the six of us from having fun kicking start the new year ride. The road was wet with the air constantly bombarded with light drizzle. Neverless, it did not dampen any enthusiasm. Give us a road, wet or dry, we ride it as wired in our brains We stopped at a Chinese kopitiam for breakfast at Kuala Kubu Baru. The boss recommended us to try out their prawn noodle soup aka har-mee. TJ commented the hokkien mee (as the Penang folks call the noodle soup) tasted as good as the original from Penang Island. Meanwhile, my wantan noodle was pretty plain and tasteless. We just have to come back again to try out the har-mee. With a plateful of noodle and a glass of home brewed coffee slowly digesting in my system, I saddled up to hit the road with the rest .. hopefully with enough brain juice to stay focus on the road. We threaded the slippery asphalt cautiously as the winding road from Kuala Kubu Baru to Gap was very unforgiving when wet. Alas, the Gap rest house was still closed to 'renovations.' A real bummer as it would be nice to slurp more coffee at Frasier Hill's foothill. But when you have a government-appointed contractor doing the works, it would take forever to complete which is a real letdown as Gap was once the place to stop for tea and real Hainanese chicken chop Sadly, without any coffee, we continued riding to Bentong. Well, least we did not waste too much time stopping. The moody cloud stayed and sprayed occasional rain drops making the road still damp. My bike LCD read 28 deg C ambient temperature. Comfy for riding but we had to ride out the winding road carefully. TJ was already lamenting the slow pace as his bike did not like low rpm diet. The rest on boxer-twins were happy to trot along .. irregardless of speed and pace as one of the boxer engine good trait .. plenty of low rpm torque As we approached Bentong town, the sky cleared up momentary allowing us to crack the throttles opened for a little brisk riding . We continued on to Bukit Tinggi via the old Bentong-Gombak road for early lunch. We bumped into the whatever remains of BKT gang. Lunch was very good and we took our time to slowly enjoy our meal. Let's hope 2010 = more riding + food + coffee
to Ivan and Ben .. get well soon ..skip the coffee and tea. drink lots of milk
