Awana Sunday Breakfast Ride
4 April 2010 |
|
The Chinese with Taoist faith celebrated the Qing Ming Festival over the weekend. The actual day falls on Monday but most would take the opportunity to visit their ancestral graves on Sunday. It is a time to remember the dearly departed and to pay respect to one's deceased ancestors and family members. Because it reinforces the ethic of filial piety, Qing Ming is a major Chinese festival with many Chinese visiting the cemeteries of deceased family members akin to All Souls Day for Christians. The itch of riding got the better of me when I summed up Bin, Sam and Ivan for a short breakfast ride to Awana before I would drop by Gombak to offer prayers to my grandma at the old family's house. We would visit her grave on Monday. It would the 1st time I be offering Qing Ming's prayers to my grandma.
I managed to get back to Gombak before noon. I supposed grandma would understand why I had to 'travel' 100 odd km for a cuppa of coffee
