Our ride master, Ivan failed to show up. Neverless, we were ready to hit the road. It has very hot the past few days and the weatherman has predicted that the current dry hot spell would persist until September. But then again, it seem that the day would start nicely for us. Sam came to the meet up place to see us off. He had called for his branch managers' meeting earlier and cannot back off to join the ride. Ezam was the last to arrive and we wasted no time to hit the road. Rashidi had just bought ZZR600 and been riding for about a month. To ride well on the road to Kuala Klawang, it takes a bit of skill and lots of focus. The road is quite technical with plenty hairpin bends. For new beginner, it is best to start slowly to learn the road instead of trying to keep up with the pack. Quite a few accidents had happened over the years with some unfortunately fatal. On the other hand, if the road is generally straight from point A to B, it would not be that fun to ride on it. Incidentally, Rashidi rode his bike well.. perhaps already plenty of practices with his old kapchai.. The other chap, (we just nick him chef), reminded me of CHeeV with his screaming Aprilia RS125
My new ride would
be coming at the end of the month (if the Somali pirates didn't nick the
cargo ship) hence my ride time with my Zed is drawing to the end. It has
been fantastic riding the bike all over the place. It has proven to be a
very capable and reliable all rounder. Plenty of power to keep up with the
big boys even with a pillion. A few mods (Hepco Becker panniers, higher
wind-screen) to the bike made it a decent cheap sports-tourer . I might
consider keeping it if I don't get
a decent offer to take her home. Afterall, we do get very attached to our
ride over time. A cruiser, a street bike and a dualie at my
disposal.. that would be very cool. Only if my car porch can hold so many
2wheels ! Unfortunately, we don't have Jay Leno' money and will to build a
garage
We had our breakfast at a road side stall along the trunk road. Thankfully, no one suffered any tummy upset as the hygiene level at the eatery was a little short. A quick visit to the eatery kitchen would be enough to make one an expert in vomitting.
We proceeded to Jeram Toi about 20 odd km away for a short stop. Saved for Phang, no one in the ride group has ever been to Jeram Toi. Jeram Toi consists of four main waterfalls with huge surrounding trees making the place a cool picnic spot even on a hot day. We didn't go up to the waterfalls as we were not prepared to get wet. Perhaps, next time. I remembered we had a jolly time getting wet at the falls
