Our economy has been hit hard with recent oil crisis. It is hard to imagine now taking a casual drive or cruise as the Americans are fond of around the idyllic country roads. Maybe the new fuel prices would need to be absorbed into our mindset before everyone starts to think normal again. By then, we be saddled with other higher living cost. Thankfully, we don’t have to drive. Riding on motorcycles with fantastic fuel economy akin to cheap econobox Kanchils, around the Titiwangsa Mountain Range provide its riders with way out of holding on to sanity. A small price to pay to recharge the brain cells for the new week ahead. Oonta came to greet us
with his new black Aprilia Strada in sandals and t-shirt signaling he was
not geared up to join the ride to Genting for breakfast. I would have bonk
myself silly with a new purchase.
Sam’s friend, Lim
misunderstood the meeting point at Shell. Instead he had to meet us at the
bus stop before police’s check point at Awana. I would have love to see how
a 3 wheeler bike handles the Ulu Yam - Batang Kali curvy road. Yup, Lim
rides a Piaggio MP3, a very special but quirky motorcycle.
As usual, most of us were ripping up the road over the Ulu Yam-Batang Kali route. Accelerating up the hill in third, fourth and then fifth gears, disappeared into the horizon and get rewarded with nice cup of blended coffee was well worth the extra forty percents paid for premium unleaded petrol. The usual Sunday bikers crowd at CB&TF did not reflect the fuel price crisis at all. Heck, there were even two Ferraris including a gorgeous 360 Spider. Guess, the rich owners would not be bothered anyway especially they can afford cars beyond cool million bucks. Lim had a little scare during the decent as his MP3 mysteriously lost its front brake's pressure. Perhaps peer pressure of trying to cope with the pack's pace plus the lack of experience riding down-hill took toll on the bike's braking system. It probably caved in to Lim's overzealous squeezing actions on the brake lever. Never less, we all checked in safely after the Karak toll.
