Heaven decided to open up big time
when we were getting ready to ride to town for our dinner. We decided to
wait out and thankfully God of Rain decided to offer us a short reprise
which we took without hesitation to hop to Brinchang.
We had our breakfast again at the cafe near the golf course. Makcik took the distance to prepare some chicken rendang to go with the usual nasi lemak. We were pretty much fired up on a combination of nasi lemak and coffee/teh tarik. Then again, we likely would stop a few more rounds for drinks and food on route back.
We eased to the old Smokehouse for a group photo shoot. It was here I had my first portrait of my old Virago way back to 2002. It was an awesome sight to see all our bikes decked side by side next to the old Brit phone booth. We all laughed silly when Zain was in the phone booth. Wasn’t exactly sure what the fuss was about but then we have been acting like school boys throughout the last one and a half days. We returned to our hotel for a final visit to the toilets to clear our bowels before hitting the road. Zain would love that arrangement. Rashid received a couple of smses to remind him to bring back a couple of rose stalks. Meanwhile, Zain bought some fresh vegetables as instructed by his home minister.
Riding to Boh plantation in Sg Palas
is always fun. And this round was no exception even we had to content with
rain and slight heavy traffic. The light rain stopped when we reached BOH
plantation’s summit. David was amused to see an extremely battered Land
Rover. This vehicle being aluminium bodied is well sought after in Cameron.
They practically live on with numerous engine swaps as the body would never
rust in the everyday wet Cameron Highlands.
We had another round of tea and nasi lemak for lunch at the lookout-cum-cafe. I guessed everyone was amazed with David’s fondness for nasi lemak. The return ride through Kg Raja-Simpang Pulai was extremely satisfying. For once, the God of Rain took pity of us and decided to grant us a dry pavement. Everyone was having a blast through the twisty road with Fadil did an excellent job of keeping the traffic ahead of us clear. David, who was visiting from Australia and on a bike loan from Sunny Cycle probably had a hell-of-a-ride. In a short two days, we taught him how to ride way above legal speeds, how to do lane splitting on the highway and how to find find illegal parking lot (read handicap lot) to park his bike. He earned his Malaysian driver's license. I bet he would come back for more... At least for another round of nasi-ganja with the boys ... ahem.. guys
