We been riding pretty mellow as we moved on to Kuantan via inner Route 14. No more sunny beaches and salty air for company. Route 14 is good for legal speed riding. Anything more than that would be pushing it as we have to content with occasional slow traffic. There were many slow cars, bikes and lorries on the road.

We stopped for lunch at Jerangau. Phang managed to find a road side stall selling local durians. As luck would have it, there was a small eatery directly opposite where we could get some refreshment and maybe some light lunch. We soon learned that both the durian and food stalls are own by the same makchik. Meanwhile, Rashid rode off alone to Bandar A-Muktafi Billah Shah for his Friday prayers. Nasi campur with durains for lunch. Maybe we were a little hungry.

We caught up with Rashid at the Petronas station at Bandar A-Muktafi Billah Shah. Another quickie stop for some drinks and ice creams. We got to speed up a little from here before making a right turn at Bukit Goh - Bukit Sagu junction. The trunk road serves as an alternative road to connect to the main East-West Expressway. We pulled up for a stop at Maran toll as all of us were beginning to ride a little erratically, tell tale signs of dehydration courtesy of the fiery late afternoon sun. Moreover, Rashid’s bike was suffering from a probable worn out clutch which dropped his engine speed considerably.
