We all felt big sense of relief as we reached the resort. We hit about trouble-free 520 km on the odometer for the day. The resort staff prompted us to park at the designated parking lot as we were not allowed to ride to the lobby. Instead, a driver in a re-constructed half-cut Daihatshu Mira (Kancil) buggy would take us to the main resort lobby. The much abused 660 cc engine struggled to shuttle all six of us loaded with gears and bags to the lobby. The resort general manager, Kamaruddin, a fellow biker with a ZX-14, was present to greet us. Maybe the presence of six ragged bikers caught his attention. A very friendly boss.
Check-in was fuss free and prompt and we were soon cramped in the Mira buggy again to a little ride to our deluxe lake-view chalets. The resort numerous chalets are designed to blend into the beautiful surroundings. Hence, some of the chalets are a good walking distance to the main resort building. It certainly felt good to swap our riding gears for swimming trunks. Afterall, the sun has been scorching our bodies for a good part of the day and we could certainly use the resort’s gorgeous swimming pool for a well-deserved relaxing cool down.
We decided to have dinner at the resort’s cafe as we were simply too tired to ride again as the closest town with eateries is almost 20 km away. Unfortunately, the service rendered by the cafe staff was a let down given the resort’s upper status. The food was not exactly to our expectation either. Ben’s daging rendang was actually slices of beef lightly cook in chilli gravy. My chicken claypot meal was chicken chunks cooked in oyster sauce and served with white rice in a claypot! Our dinner bill came to about RM175 for simple ala carte selections and tea/coffee. With nothing much to do at night at the resort, we lazed at open cafe area chit chatting on recent happenings ...guys’s talk.
