David goes to Moc Bai |
29 July 2007 |
After quite a lay off, The Donald and I decided to put on our riding gear thirsty for what ever available riding adventure we could get in Vietnam. For now its still the two of us but hey as long as you have a ride buddy its always going to be a little better. We started the Saturday morning with Donald's recommendation of another of HCM's famous food in town-fish noodle shop. We both had seconds before taking our customery half and hour to get out of the City (traffic and all) at about 8ish in the morning. Made a stop 30km into the journey as Donald was feeling sleepy due to the effects of entertaining business associates the previous night. Nevertheless he got his 40 winks and we were recharged for the rest of the journey. The ride after the rest proved to be good decision as we got to enjoy the rest of the journey out of the city with really straight roads and less traffic.
Our destination was Moc Bai situated about 80km from Ho Chi Minh City. A border town which is famous for its Casinos and Duty Free Shops. Its also the gateway to Cambodia. The destination wasnt always the goal but the journey so this was to be a recon trip at the same time taking in the sights. We stopped for the occasional foto opportunity as best as we could.
The trip ended with a bonus for us as we were headed back to the city. Whilst trying to capture the moments and scenary we were greeted by three local lasses one on a new Honda Blade (the latest scoot in town). we were surprised with their friendliness when we asked if we could take pictures with them. Donald of course made my day when he quickly took the camera to start clicking away but not without making some so called "slo-mo" actions to give me time to savor the moment. Well it certainly was a rare occassion and who knows the next time we go may be a little further - across the border.
Till our next trip, ride safe
