24-25 March 2007

Dear All,

Well as pestered by Kenny, I'm sending some pictures of my weekend trip  on the 24th & 25th March 07 to Vietnam's very own Cat-Tien National Park .

Unfortunately I didnt do it on the AX1 (couldnt meet Ken's requirement of putting a chic on the bike when I shoot fotos). Instead I hopped on a car and traveled 150kms out of HCM City. Didnt know what to expect but brought along my other 2wheeler, the GIANT XTC (my mountain bike of course).

1 hour into the journey, I was already day-dreaming about making a return trip with the AX1. Whats interesting is that I could continue for another additional 3 hours and reach Dalat, the CHighlands of Vietnam. Planning, planning next trip.

Cat Tien reminded me of our very own Taman Negara but a little smaller and wanting in facilities. However I'm always reminded of Vietnam's charm in being that everything was kept to the very basics. Simplicity at its best la! Translated - this also means not too expensive if you are not fussy.

In any case, the weekend trip was a long awaited escape from the city. Had my first Off road ride after more than a year. It felt damn good is all I can say. As if to reoriented me back into what riding off road was, the trail started with a good 2km of pavement before getting you onto the next 8km of a good old fashion fire-road (something the Peg-my eX would excel on ).

Right at the middle there was the entrance to the trail towards Crocodile Lake- single track bliss to me. Nice and covered the 5km journey rewarded my arrival to the Ranger look out station where nature lovers would spend hours looking at birds & yes crocodiles.

The pictures, I snapped doesnt really do justice as you really got to be there to enjoy it. Well cant blame my trusty thumb drive cam can you? Still serving me well.

Well I'll be taking the AX1 out soon. Just dont want to do a trip hastily. Everything on the AX1 is set I guess. Just waiting for the right timing.

Cheerio and safe riding everyone.

Mr. Cordura.
