3 Nations Charity Ride 2007 |
19-21 October 2007 |
It was first for a annually 3 Nations Charity Ride to be held in Kuala Lumpur. The organiser felt it was appropriate to hold it in KL to tie with Malaysiann MotoGP. The actual numbers of bikers formally participating in the ride were a little disappointing given the previous 3NCR hosted by SBM were attended by close to 1500 bikers. They were hoping to break that record given many bikers would come to KL to see MotoGP. Alas, from eyeball figures, I can only guessed the bikers were in the sub 700 plus. Never less, BAGSTERS had a good time joining the rides around KL and Putrajaya, especially when the roads were blocked for us to pass through .. Cool
We cut short the joy ride around Putrajaya to visit a bike exhibition at KLCC. Luckily the ticket was given as part of the 3NCR package, the exhibition was a little let down for those who dig fast bikes. Well, it was a mini Sturgis-bike-fest exhibition with a fair numbers of custom bikes on display. Fantastic for those who fancy custom choppers.
The so-called formal dinner at Menara KL was a little disappointing too. A formal dinner by definition should at least guarantee we have sittings to chow. The organiser felt it was only appropriate to allocate tables and seats for VIPs though they constantly advocates bikers’ brotherhood and equality... I felt it is also proper to give a full thumbs down to Budweiser for being a cheapskate co-organiser. If they were to part sponsor the dinner, at least they should sell their beer at a more reasonable price instead of RM20 a can or RM100 for a six-pack.
The live performances were surprising good. But we were only treated to a couple of live songs. The bulk of the night time was given to organiser to auction off some items for charity which left many restless and uninterested. The highlight of the night was a cool demonstration by a drag biker at the carpark. The un-muffled drag bike engine could easily set off alarms miles away. However, we forgo our lucky draws opportunity to a mamak stall near the famous Beach Club. It was much more interesting to see chicks in club/party dresses walking pass by than the boring auctions (though for a good cause) at the dinner.
There were many bikers gate crashed into the ride to Sepang to see MotoGP on day 3. Guess they were tipped off by some one that they would ride straight into the main grandstands compound by-passing the security and ticket checks .. And it was indeed cool to park our bikes in next to the grandstands. Thankfully, the menacing dark morning cloudy fizzled out and the babes came out in full force.
Casey came and conquered Sepang. Rossi limped to a poor finish by his usual high standards.
Can't wait to see what what 2008 season is in store. I bet if Rossi is still unable to re-claim his numero uno position, he would most likely to switch to 4 wheels racing (WRC?) in 2009
