Mersing here we come.

The road after Kahang was much better. We even managed to hit an average of 110 km/h.

David was having a blast on his Peggie.

We finally reached our destination around 2:30 pm. Other bikers would have arrived in 3-4 hours flat. We took about 6 hours including makan time, pang-sai time, etc.

David pre-booked a very nice but very far Chalet some 35 km away from Mersing town. We had been on the bike for about six hours.

Frankly, I wasn’t keen to go that FAR anymore. 

 

Finally at Mersing after almost 6 hours 

Air Papan Beach
We ended up staying at Coconut Inn/Chalet at Air Papan, some 17km away from any real town life. After bits of haggling with Makcik, we settled for 60 bucks a night. We got a room with air-con, 2 extremely springy double-beds, a little TV which is not much use due to poor  signal reception and attached cold-water-only shower.

Although the bed mattress was kind of shitty, it was a real pleasure to hit the beds to nurse our sore buns and backs.
